Letters and Records Regarding the Church Policy of Frederik the Wise and Johann the Steadfast, 1513-1532. Reformation in the Context of Early Modern State Formation] The two Electors of Saxony Frederik the Wise (1463-1525) and his successor Johann the Steadfast (1468-1532) have been key figures of the early Reformation history. Being sovereigns of Martin Luther, they created the political framework for the spreading and the implementation of the Wittenberg Reformation. The aim of this edition (four volumes are planned) is to make accessible for the first time on a broad basis for general historical and church historical research the letters and records of these eminent princes of the Reformation. The span of time covered by the edition reaches from the inner division of the country between Frederik and Johann in 1513 to the death of Elector Johann in 1532. Volume One contains more than 600 papers from 1513 to 1517.
