Acknowledgement The story of the fairy valley has long been lying dormant within me. It came to life one sunny summer's day while hiking to the Old Man of Storr through the little-known rolling hills behind it. Sometimes there are ideas that do not seem sufficient for a complete novel, but are too voluminous for a short story. Then Ulrich Burger approached me with his novella project - and immediately the fairy fires started to flare up. Many thanks to you, dear Uli, that I can be part of this project!
